Originally from Shelby, North Carolina, Stephanie graduated from Shelby High School and attended NC Governor's School West, in 2004 for Drama. In 2008 she joined the board of the North Carolina Governor's School Alumni Association as Alumnus at Large, a role she has filled since 2010. Then she served as Treasurer from 2012-2016 and as Secretary from 2016-2018. In 2018, she was elected as President of the NC Governor's School Alumni Association. She also serves as the Webmaster and Database Administrator for the Alumni Association.

Stephanie currently resides in Greensboro. She works at UNC Greensboro, which is also her alma mater where she has received both a BFA in Drama and a Masters in Library and Information Studies.
