In 2018, the NC Governor’s School Foundation established the Legislative Champion Award as a way to acknowledge and appreciate the leaders in our state who help make Governor’s School possible, thereby providing a life-changing educational experience to many gifted students in our State. 

Inaugural recipients of the award were Representative Nelson Dollar (Republican - Wake County) and Representative Donny Lambeth (Republican - Forsyth County). Both Representative Dollar and Representative Lambeth listened to the voices of NC constituents and fought to keep Governor's School in the General Assembly's 2017-18 and 2018-19 budgets.
